Clinician – Crisis Centers

Summary of Position Function

Provides Crisis Assessment and Behavioral Health Treatment Services to individuals with substance use disorders, mental health disorders and/or co-occurring disorders who present for services at the Crisis Center.  Responsible for assessment of clients, development and implementation of an Individualized Action Plan.  Provides Individual, Group, Family and Crisis Treatment Services as appropriate.  Also is responsible for referral to other appropriate services and coordination with other service providers.  Performs related tasks as required.

 *Saturday and evening flexibility required*

Education Requirements

  • Master’s Degree preferred commensurate with required licensing
  • Educational qualifications must match regulatory requirements

Experience

  • One (1) year experience working with individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and/or substance use disorder  (SUD)
  • Experience may have been obtained through graduate internship, volunteer, or job experience.

Must possess a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with other staff who make up the crisis response team.
  • Knowledge and demonstration of agency core values in day-to-day activities
  • Meets documentation timeliness standards
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively use technology and appropriate use of support
  • Follows Agency policies and procedures
  • Completes yearly update trainings
  • Handles crisis presentations and performs initial assessments commensurate with regulatory requirements
  • Develops and reviews client individual action plan, objectives and methods consistent with assessment of problem
  • Conducts individual, group and family sessions as appropriate to a crisis center setting.
  • Coordinates services with other staff and other agencies
  • Implements established treatment plan and provides assigned professional interventions
  • Contacts collaterals and family members to encourage their participation in client’s treatment as well as their own treatment, if needed
  • Serves as resource person/consultant to other service providers in identifying clients for referral and works cooperatively with other providers to assure linkage of clients with appropriate services
  • Prepares reports, maintains clinical files, participates in training and provides statistical materials
  • Assures that advocacy, linking, expediting and related activities are carried out as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Must possess one of the following:

  • LMSW/LCSW or LMHC/LMHC-P Licensure as a Social Worker
  • New York State social work or mental health counselor limited permit or licensure eligible
