Summary of Position Function
This individual provides medical care to the Agency’s Crisis Center programs and collaborates with other Crisis Team members. Duties include interviewing individuals to screen for medical problems, health monitoring, injections, and education, along with coordinating referrals for coordination of care. Duties include conducting nursing assessments; making appropriate referrals to community physicians; providing management and administration of medication in conjunction with the psychiatrist; providing a range of treatment, rehabilitation, and support services.
*Saturday and evening flexibility required*
Education Requirements
Master’s, Bachelor’s, Associate Degree in Nursing
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATE:
Must be licenses as a Registered Nurse in the state in which the program operates
Experience
Minimum of three (2) years of work experience in an inpatient or outpatient psychiatric setting, which assures sufficient knowledge and experience applicable to this position.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record, and possess a personal vehicle for job requirement

Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Knowledge and demonstration of agency core values in day-to-day activities
- Ability to work effectively with clients, families, staff, and community contacts from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- Performs general nursing duties including medical observation, assessment of health status, medication administration/assistance and blood draws as ordered.
- Reviews medical reports and lab results received and follows up with MD/NPs accordingly.
- Completes appropriate documentation to ensure CCBHC/OMH/OASAS requirements are being fully met.
- Addresses and resolves medication issues in a timely manner, including follow up with individuals, pharmacies, and outside providers as necessary.
- Assess and responds to medical emergencies and recommends direction for next level of care.
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively use technology and appropriate use of support.
- Consults and collaborates as part of the multidisciplinary team with PMD/Pharmacy/Designated liaison to maintain coordination in the treatment process.
- Assure documentation, logbooks and checklists are completed accurately and within time frame according to established policy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS:
- Demonstrate clear understanding of the characteristics and problems of adults with severe and persistent mental illness.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of effective clinical practices and principles
- Demonstrate knowledge of psychotropic medications and the management and administration of medication
- Strong commitment to the right and ability of each person with a severe and persistent mental illness to live in normal community residences; work and have access to helpful adequate, competent, and continuous supports and services.
- Must possess skills and competence to establish supportive trusting relationships with persons with severe and persistent mental illness and respect for client’s rights and personal preference in treatment are essential
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, judgment, and decision-making skills
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Proficient in the use of computer software such as MSWord, Excel, Outlook, etc.
