Coping with Client Loss

Training Overview

Grief and loss are universal experiences. Whether endured in our personal lives or in the work we do every day as behavioral health professionals, they are particularly difficult to understand and navigate. In this training, we will consider different perspectives and models of the grief and loss process, particularly regarding to client loss in a behavioral health setting. The effects of client loss will be explored as well as tools and techniques to better cope with loss in the work environment. This is an interactive training that will provide an opportunity to explore healthy coping skills surrounding client loss as well as to normalize associated thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Educational Goals

Participants will be able to:

  • identify 2 biological components that can occur after a traumatic event.
  • verbalize 1-2 components of trauma informed care
  • identify 1-2 DSM-5 Trauma Related Disorders
  • identify 1-2 best practice therapy modalities to utilize when working with clients diagnosed with a Trauma or Stressor Related Disorder
