We can all agree that life has been looking differently lately.
Change can be good to an extent, but when it comes to having a little too much time on our hands and some extra bad news to hear, a semblance of normalcy is the only thing that is essential.
Morning routines are scientifically proven to aid in combating feelings of negativity, stress, and anxiety, not to mention setting you up to live a well-balanced life.
We know that for some people, routines are a little easier said than done. So if you’re reading this and nodding along, give the next few ideas a try!
Each step will take you no more than five minutes, and have you always up on the right side of the bed.
Rehydrate.
Let’s face it, you lose water when you sleep. If you’ve ever woken up to the world spinning around you, it’s probably because you need water- not caffeine. Before you do anything else, try drinking one glass of water with lemon! The lemon will aid with detox and help to set up your gut (and the rest of your body) for the day.
Smile.
Laughter is the best medicine, and what better time to laugh at yourself than when you first wake up? We’ve talked about the science behind it before, starting your morning off with a smile and a few good laughs is a sure way to have an excellent day!
Say Thank You.
As you’re pouring yourself that glass of water in step one, come up with 3 things that you’re grateful for that day! It will set your mind up to have a positive outlook and hopeful attitude. It’s hard to be in a bad mood when you’re thankful for all that you have!
Stretch.
Setting up your mind for success is important, but it’s just as important to warm up your body. When you take just five minutes to stretch, you’ll feel great physically and you’ll have had some extra time to reflect on all that you’d like to accomplish!
There it is! A 20-minute, no-fail morning routine. It’s perfect if you’re hoping to become someone that doesn’t just roll out of bed, or even if you’d just like to be more intentional with your morning! We promise, by incorporating just a few simple habits into your life you’ll be feeling stronger and more capable in no time!
